We are very happy with our first Linear Appraisal scores! Especially considering our does were only being milked ONCE a day for almost 2 months prior to Appraisals! Fern sustained a very serious hand injury so could no longer milk. She is so thankful to her husband who agreed to milk them in the evenings so they could be appraised!
What do the Scores Mean?
As you can see the categories that are scored for does are General Appearance, Dairy Character, Body Capacity, and Mammary.
For bucks and young stock the categories are General Appearance, Dairy Character, and Body Capacity.
For Young Stock they have a different scoring system. EC is Extremely Correct, V is Very Good and + is Good Plus. Final scores are assigned EC, V or +.
A score that reads ~ V E E + 88 ~ means the doe was Very Good in General Appearance, Excellent in Dairy Character, Excellent in Body Capacity, and Good Plus in Mammary. The number at the end indicates the final score.
Final scores of 80-84 are Good Plus; 85-89 are Very Good, and 90 and above are Excellent.
