JOYFUL HEARTS FARM 2009 NEWS

MAY 2009:

We conducted our first AGS One Day Milk Test and 5 out of 6 of our does easily earned their Milk Stars!!

We entered one Sr. Milking Doe ~ Jobi Lacie ~ in our first show! Lacie picked up her 2nd legs in AGS & ADGA winning RsGrCh in the ANDDA Specialty Show!

JUNE 2009:

We participated in our 2nd (and final) show ~ this time taking 3 of our Sr. milkers ~ Jobi Lacie *D, Sandy Hollow CS Cherry Blossom 8*D and a yearling milker, Sugar. We took away a lot of new knowledge and now have a our first Permanent Dual Champion!! (Thanks Midstokke family for helping us!!)

Our First Dual Master Champion Doe is MCH/CH Jobi Lacie *D 'E' 92! Lacie won 1st x 2, and GRCH twice. Blossom came in 1st place in 2 rings and then won RsGrCh in the ANDDA Specialty Show (behind our finished doe, Lacie), earning her first legs in both AGS & ADGA!

We were given the opportunity to have Jobi Lacie *D and Blossom AGS Classified.

MCH/CH Jobi Lacie *D 'E' scored Excellent with a final score of 92!!!!! One of the highest in the ND breed!!

Sandy Hollow CS Cherry Blossom 8*D 'E' also received an Excellent Score, with a 90.4!!

AUGUST 2009:

We had our very first Linear Appraisal on the 20th of August. Even though we try to get some of our goats in the show ring each year, we place MUCH greater emphasis on getting feedback about our goats conformation by participating in ADGA's Linear Appraisal Program. This is where a specially trained dairy goat appraiser scores each animal for how closely he or she comes to the "ideal" dairy goat. This information is a much more valuable tool than showing. Showing compares animals against other animals in the show ring, rather than the ideal. We rely on this tool to guide us in making breeding decisions, and deciding who to retain, and who to cull. Another benefit is that our buyers can view the official score, letting you know that it is not just our personal opinion when we say an animal is beautiful.

2010 Linear Appraisal Scores

Our foundation herd have been very carefully selected from the best bloodlines in the country. We are striving to breed the all around dairy goat by placing equal emphasis on conformation and milk production. We are committed to participating in evaluations of our does as offered by AGS & ADGA on a yearly basis, participating in a few shows a year, and milk testing our does.
