A joyful heart is good medicine......
APRIL 2010:
We conducted our AGS One Day Milk Test for our Sr. Does. We only had one Sr Doe who had not earned her dairy star last year
as a first freshener, but decided to have our other Sr Doe's tested as well.
Joyful Hearts GD Sugar Maple easily earned her 9*D as a 2 yr old 2nd freshener, 44 days in milk, milking 4.6 #'s, 4.7% butterfat and 4.2% protein,
with a final score of 51.92!!
MCH/CH Jobi Lacie *D 'E' 92, at 4.11 yrs of age, 62 days in milk, milked 4.4#'s, with 5.2% butterfat and 4.5% protein, for a final score of 53.21,
beating her 2009 milk test score of 51.92!
And Sandy Hollow CS Cherry Blossom 8*D 'E', at 4 yrs of age, 88 days in milk, gave 3.8#'s milk, 5.2% BF and 4.3% protein, for a total score of
47.95.
MAY 2010:
We were notified of our does placing from their 2009 Milk Test with AGS!
MCH/CH Jobi Lacie *D 'E' made the AGS Top Ten for Milk Production Awards, coming in at #6!!
Joyful Hearts GD Fayth *D also made the AGS Top Ten for Milk Production Award, ranking #5!!
Sandy Hollow CS Cherry Blossom 8*D 'E' tied for #10 High Protein!
Congrat's to our hard working dairy goats!
JUNE 2010:
We participated in our 2nd Linear Appraisal via ADGA at the end of June. As usual, we learned a lot.
MCH/CH Jobi Lacie *D 'E' now has her Permanent Linear Appraisal score of 90! Excellent!
Odeon SHO Tuscan Sun recieved very high praise as a young Jr Doe, earning an EC Extremely Correct score.
Even though we try to get some of our goats in the show ring each year, we place MUCH greater emphasis on getting feedback about our goats
conformation by participating in ADGA's Linear Appraisal Program. This is where a specially trained dairy goat appraiser scores each animal for how
closely he or she comes to the "ideal" dairy goat. This information is a much more valuable tool than showing. Showing compares animals against other
animals in the show ring, rather than the ideal. We rely on this tool to guide us in making breeding decisions, and deciding who to retain, and who to
cull. Another benefit is that our buyers can view the official score, letting you know that it is not just our personal opinion when we say an animal is
beautiful. You can see all of our LA scores for 2009 and 2010 on our website, and on the ADGA website.

We also participated in the AGS Classification program in June with Alice Hall judging. Two of our goats qualified: Our Sr Buck, *B Fairlea Jamie
Fraser *S 'E' 90 received another Excellent Score! He earned a 90!
And our 2nd freshener Joyful Hearts GD Sugar Maple 9*D earned a VG score of 86.7. Another very educational tool to evaluate our animals and
breeding program.
AUGUST 2009:
Congratulations go to Taylor Thomas and her two does, Joyful Hearts Esther *D VG who won Grand Champion Sr Doe at the AV Fair, and to Joyful
Hearts JF Lady Liberty "Libby" for winning Jr. Grand Champion at the AV Fair! Way to go girls!! =)
Hopefully photo's to follow!
OCTOBER 2010:
Our Annual Herd Testing was done via WADDL, for CAE & CL. All Negative! This is our 6th year in a row we have tested Negative!
Our foundation herd has been very carefully selected from the best bloodlines in the
country. We are striving to breed the all around dairy goat
by placing equal emphasis on conformation and milk production. We are committed to participating in evaluations of our does as offered by AGS &
ADGA on a yearly basis, possibly participating in a few shows a year, and milk testing our does.
