BLUE LACED RED WYANDOTTES

We purchased our first breeding trio in 2008 as week old chicks hatched by a private breeder. October of 2009 we purchased our Blue BLRW cockeral hatched from Jerry Foley's flock. Thanks Kim! Here is his photo:

We are really happy with our Blue Laced Red (BLR's) Wyandotte's! They are just gorgeous medium to large sized dual purpose birds. The BLRW's lay a light brown shelled egg ~I liken them to soft suede. We offer hatching eggs and started stock if we have extra birds.

We have some started stock available ~ please see below for details!

According to the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy "the Silver Laced variety was developed in New York State and the others in the north and northeastern states in the latter part of the 19th century and early 20th century. Characteristics: Wyandottes are a good, medium-weight fowl for small family flocks kept under rugged conditions. Their rose combs do not freeze as easily as single combs and the hens make good mothers. Their attractive "curvy" shape, generally good disposition and many attractive color patterns (varieties) make them a good choice for fanciers as well as farmers."

Different Colors of the Blue Laced Red Wyandottes

All Wyandotte's can be traced back to the Silver Laced. Since the Blue Laced Red Wyandotte's are genetically Andalusian blue, there are three possible colors you can get. Blue laced Red, black laced red (blue black), and Splash (white laced red). We are starting off with a Blue Laced Red rooster, a blue black hen and a splash hen. The variations in lacing and colors of the blue laced red wyandottes will make breeding these birds a very fun hobby!

Here are the possible results from crossing our Blue rooster with our Splash and Black hens:
Blue X Blue = 50% Blue ~ 25% Black ~ 25% Splash
Blue X Splash = 50% Blue ~ 50% Splash
Blue X Black = 50% Blue ~ 50% Black
And if crossing a Splash Rooster with black you will get 100% Blue
Splash x Splash you will get 100% Splash
and of course Black x Black will produce 100% Black

(See prices above) The balance due will be required in full via PayPal ~ instant Cash transfers only (NO eChecks) and your eggs will be shipped out to you immediately.

Please remember, these are LIVE fertile eggs and if we do not receive payment the next person in line will be contacted and you will lose your place in line. Once collected those little *chickies to be* need to be on their way ASAP to have the greatest chance of hatching out for you. We hope you understand! :-)

Please know that we pack your eggs very carefully but we cannot be held responsible for what happens after they leave our hands at the post office. All eggs we have shipped for the 2009, 2010, and 2011 season arrived safely! We rarely have an egg break thankfully, but we always try to send an extra egg or two *just in case*. We are also not responsible for the variables with your incubator or your experience in hatching. Our Blue Laced Red Wyandotte's have high fertility and hatch out easily for us as well as our customers who have purchased eggs from us. We will be posting testimonials soon!

OUR BLRW HATCHING EGGS WILL BE AVAILABLE AGAIN FALL OF '11 - WINTER '12!! Thank you to all of our customers! We are so happy you all had wonderful hatches this year!! We had 100% fertility, even in our shipped eggs, which is amazing! Keep in touch ~ We love pictures and updates of how your birds are doing!!

TESTIMONIALS

"Oh Fern, they are absolutely breathtaking! I adore them! I have a small trio of BLRW that are grown and I have hatched from them and have some kids growing up all the time but they do not take my breath like these from you have. And the temperaments are just as wonderful. As little time as I have had for them this summer and they are still calm and friendly is exactly what I want......I finally moved my black copper Marans and Ameraucanas out of the grow up pen where my gorgeous BLRWs I hatched from Fern are. Those birds are so lovely that I lost myself just staring at them."
Amy in SC We look forward to serving you and hope you have a wonderful hatching experience!

All birds are fed Organic grains, organic Kelp and kitchen scraps as well as raw goat milk, Kefir, and whey from our dairy goats when available. They are also let out to free range on our acreage almost daily (unless hawks or bobcats are sighted, then they have a large, covered, run to safely hang out in).
